Some Cool Comics Publishers
Last week I met up with some friends at the perfect comic shop, Odd Mart in Uptown Minneapolis. I bought a comic and a tape and wrote down the name of a lot of the smaller publishers that I hadn't heard of. Here they are with links to their websites and minor notes off the dome.
- Peow Studio - lotta variety. Published Stop Hibari-Kun!!! in english for the first time. Standout work for me is the Ex.Mag line, great genre anthology. https://peow.studio/
- Silver Sprocket - lots of indie stuff, mostly zines, webcomics. Learned of them through Mr.Boop (lol) but the recent work that I have been meaning to get my hands on is the Chromatic Fantasy and Pinky & Pepper Forever. https://www.silversprocket.net/
- kuš! - Latvian publisher of multiple anthology magazines that collect works from across the globe. I got a copy of š! #54 with cover story by Caroline Cash (the current author of Nancy!) and love that book so damn much. https://www.komikss.lv/
- Bubbles Zine - saw a few loose issues and am obsessed now. seems oddly focused and black and white which i dig. Shockingly large online presence and lots of books they've published! https://www.bubbleszine.com/
- Living The Line - lots of horror and 18+ titles but seems cool. Interested in Pillow Fight personally ! https://livingtheline.com/
- Latta Land - personal project of Josh Latta doing traditional comic strips. Cute! https://lattaland.com/
- Last Gasp - lots of english releases of classic manga! Pure Trance looks great. Also collection of Hi Fructose, a cool art magazine. https://lastgasp.com/
- Pantheon - Comics imprint of Knopf who originally published Maus. Does a lotta stuff semi notably to me, publishing Mattie Lubchansky's work. https://knopfdoubleday.com/imprint/pantheon/
- Avery Hill - Lots of great stuff on here by smaller artists. Love the work of Owen Pomrey and Tillie Walden! https://averyhillpublishing.bigcartel.com/
- Drawn & Quarterly - A great comics magazine turned great comics publisher. Do some older japanese stuff, swedish stuff (moomin!) and lots of current stuff from across the globe. Published Benji Nate's Girl Juice! https://drawnandquarterly.com/
- Floating World Comics - So many titles. So many artists. Too little time. Buy more comics. https://floatingworldcomics.com/
- Hollow Press - Japanese, American, and European artists as well as TTRPGs! Lots of great eroguro by Suehiro Maruo and Shintaro Kago. https://hollow-press.net/
- Uncivilized - Single issue traditional American comics as well as collections and graphic novels. A lot of variety! https://uncivilizedbooks.com/
- Strangers - Lots of fanzines and edgy comics in the best way. Demon Summoner Gash Gash looks super cool! Makinaphobe also looks beautiful and interesting. https://strangerspublishing.com/
